The Deal with Film Permits
If you’re like me, you’ve probably broken the law a couple of times while gathering footage - “Whoa, did you shoot that from the Brooklyn Bridge? Don’t you need a permit for that? ” - but if you’re part of a legit production, you have to know when permits are required and how to get them.
This process varies depending on your location. For the purpose of this post, we’ll cover the permit gathering situation in New York and Los Angeles. If you live someplace else, feel free to add your own experience and links!

Storyboarding Resources
First, let’s just get it out of the way. It doesn’t matter if you can’t draw. Seriously. The point of a storyboard is to illustrate your concept. It allows you to prove your chops as a director. But there’s no need to spend hours perfecting every panel. (You might miss the contest deadline, among other frustrations.)
Some directors are famous for sketching super simple storyboards, including Sir Ridley Scott, who was known for his Ridleygrams, who also co-founded RSA Films, which happens to be the company the winner will be working with to produce Low vs Diamond’s music video. Coincidence?

Why we’re excited about the new contest
Everybody loves a list. So in the spirit of competition, here are the Top 5 reasons why you should enter our new contest to direct a music video with RSA Films and Epic Records.
5. The contest is all about talent and ideas. You don’t need to own a professional HD camera to enter this competition. It’s more about the strength of your idea and the talent you share in your pitch. If you put a lot of work into your treatment and storyboards, it will show.
